I’m leaving Seattle for 10 days. I’m staying in a little A frame cabin on a horse farm in Santa Cruz, my hometown, and I’m not looking back.

This week at work has been awful. It’s been police and suicide threats and children going into foster care, far from their mothers. The only things keeping me going is the love of my partner, my own tenacity, and knowing that at the end of the week I’ll get to relax in a beautiful place, go to the beach and hug Callie for hours.

And it will be like coming home to family, because it will be. ❤️ You are only human, and you are doing a wonderful job with the whole humanity thing.

Get to work on Day 1 of my period

- new girl has, for the second week in a row, done all of the opening duties, mine included.
- she makes me a drink as I walk in the door.

New girl, I like you.
Now, get outta the way so I don’t puke on you.

Healing is a choice. It is not an easy one because it takes work to turn around your habits. But keep making the choice and shifts will happen.
